Taken from the Microsculpture project by Levon Biss, this beautiful portrait of a Jewel Longhorn Beetle was created from over 8,000 individual photographs using a bespoke camera system and microscope objectives. This level of detail reveals that the striking colours and patterns are made from a covering of extremely fine pigmented scales.
