Machin stamps
Known for their distinct portrait design based on a bas-relief sculpture by Arnold Machin, the Machin's were the primary definitive stamps throughout most of Elizabeth II's reign, with the last issue on April 4, 2022, shortly before her death.
The series has seen a variety of printing methods used over its history, including photogravure and lithography. While the design itself is simple, these stamps were issued in over 130 colours since their inception in 1967.
