Apantesis phalerata, commonly known as the harnessed tiger moth, is a species of moth within the Erebidae family.  The bright adult coloration acts as aposematism, a visual warning to avian predators that the moth is toxic or highly unpalatable. To counter nocturnal predators like bats, which rely on echolocation rather than sight, tiger moths can emit ultrasonic clicking sounds to jam bat radar or signal their bad taste.
